{"id":30691,"date":"2021-12-03T07:02:08","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T07:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/teddiezieglerhorsemanship.com\/academy\/course\/how-to-stay-calm-3\/"},"modified":"2022-10-28T06:23:58","modified_gmt":"2022-10-28T06:23:58","slug":"bo2-02-11","status":"publish","type":"tva_lesson","link":"https:\/\/teddiezieglerhorsemanship.com\/academy\/course\/bo2-02-11\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Stay Calm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before you go to your horse think about all of the notes above and try to get yourself centered, calm, and happy.&nbsp; There are many ways to do that: Yoga, stretching, meditation, etc\u2026&nbsp; But let me give you one way that really helps me and is very quick and grounding\u2026breathing.<\/p>\n<p>I know breathing seems like a \u201cno brainer\u201d to everyone who is living and breathing air, but there are different types of breathing and they can have physical effects on our bodies.<\/p>\n<p>For example: Dr. Lamaze was influenced by childbirth practices in the Soviet Union, which involved breathing and relaxation techniques under the supervision of a midwife, and this Lamaze technique was popularized in the 1950\u2019s to help women reduce pain associated with childbirth. &nbsp;This breathing technique is still used today by many women during childbirth and has helped reduce pain without the use of drugs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Find a quiet place to sit or stand before you get to your horse\u2019s stall or paddock.<\/li>\n<li>Concentrate on your breathing and take a deep breath in and count to 4.&nbsp; Breathe deep and from the lower diaphragm.&nbsp; Breath in from your nose, mouth closed.<\/li>\n<li>Hold the breath for a count of 5<\/li>\n<li>Then release the breath for a count of 6.&nbsp; Release the breath through your mouth<\/li>\n<li>Repeat this over and over until you start to feel calmer.&nbsp; Your breathing will become more controlled and slower when you have reached your goal.<\/li>\n<li>Then think about a positive, peaceful, happy place or memory, smile and go see your horse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-30691","tva_lesson","type-tva_lesson","status-publish","hentry","tva_courses-bo2","post-wrapper","thrv_wrapper"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/teddiezieglerhorsemanship.com\/academy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tva_lesson\/30691","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/teddiezieglerhorsemanship.com\/academy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tva_lesson"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/teddiezieglerhorsemanship.com\/academy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/tva_lesson"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/teddiezieglerhorsemanship.com\/academy\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=30691"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
