When setting any type of goal, the experts tell us that clarity is always key. The clearer you are about what you want the more likely you are to get it.

So taking that same strategy and applying it to working with your horse, you should seek to be really clear about what you want too.

And when you think about it from your horse's point of view (something I ALWAYS encourage)... this means being very deliberate and intentional with your signals so that there are no misunderstandings between the two of you.

But the challenge I oftentimes see is that many people give confusing and contradictory signals to their horse without even realizing it, which inevitably leads to problems.
